Reuters has created a series of visualizations illustrating the extent of the oil spill caused by a grounded Japanese-owned ship that strayed from shipping lanes. One visualization uses satellite data to show the spread of the spilled oil along the Mauritius coastline. Scientists predict this may have devastating impacts on endangered coral reefs, fish, and plant species like the Mauritian clownfish and mangrove trees.
