Comments to the White House on the Precision Medicine Initiative Draft Data Security Policy Principles and Framework

The White House has requested comments on its Draft Data Security Policy Principles and  Framework for the Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI). The White House has outlined voluntary guidelines for organizations participating in the PMI to ensure that sensitive health data is protected and managed responsibly. The Center for Data Innovation has filed comments describing why the White House should recognize de-identification as an effective and reliable tool for safeguarding sensitive data, as well as why organizations participating in the PMI should be encouraged to de-identify data properly.
