Visualizing the Racial Makeup of the United States

The New York Times has created a map with data from the U.S. Census illustrating the racial makeup of the entire United States. The Times created the visualization after the Obama Administration announced new requirements for cities and towns that receive money from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In order to continue receiving federal funding, municipal governments must use demographic data from the Census and other sources to evaluate and combat policies that might contribute to segregation.
