Portland, OR-based data visualization company Periscopic has created “A World of Terror,” an interactive visualization of the 25 most prolific global terrorist groups and their activity since 1970. The visualization covers groups as disparate as the Irish Republican Army and Boko Haram and shows the number of incidents for each group, along with the numbers killed and wounded, for each year the group was active. The data, which comes form the Global Terrorism Database, reveals that terrorist groups have been active in 73 countries on five continents, with France the most commonly targeted country.
