TrendViz is a data visualization tool that lets users quickly track trends in online news and social media mentions of brands, companies, and markets. The tool, created by Dutch interactive design agency Clever°Franke and data analysis company Ai-Applied, allows users to easily highlight and filter news around a given topic and visualize the resulting information in an intuitive way. The demo version of the visualization allows users to track recurring words in news stories about pharmaceutical companies. The visualization’s creators see initial applications in public relations, but there may also be journalistic applications on the horizon. For example, media companies could visualize all news regarding a war-torn country over time and see how key topics change.
